Many have debated that ingesting cannabis may help the mind, body and spiritual practices of human. Cannabis has been used as a spiritual aid and medicine for the body and mind around the world from India to China since ancient times and even has a long history of spiritual use in America and western countries. Now, the use of cannabis is gradually being legalized state by state in the U.S., with more states are in the process of legalization and some states are legalizing the recreational use of the plant and cultivating marijuana seeds, while a majority of the remaining states have authorized cannabis for medical use.
The word cannabinoids refer to each chemical substance, regardless of its origin or structure, that joins the cannabinoid receptors of the body and brain and that have comparable effects to those produced by the cannabis plant.
Tt is a large and varied group of substances that can be classified in several ways. A cannabinoid is a signature that describes an area of similar compounds that are obtained in the body— endocannabinoids, found naturally in plants— phytocannabinoids, and even made in a laboratory— synthetic cannabinoids).
Cannabinoids interact with a comprehensive system in the body called the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is often defined as a major regulatory system. The ECS is responsible for the side effects, both good and bad of using cannabis—whether that be in the form of hemp oil, CBD oil, or smoking marijuana with specific strain or breed like cali connection. The endocannabinoid system is composed of the endocannabinoids that the body assembles naturally and also a family of receptors called cannabinoid receptors. The two cannabinoid receptors are CB1 and CB2, and they define in large part why cannabis has so many healing properties and also why THC causes intoxication while CBD does not.
Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), most commonly delta 9, is major cannabinoid derived from cannabis or synthesized. Primarily responsible for marijuana psychotropic properties.
Cannabidiol (CBD) is also one of the major cannabinoids derived or synthesized from cannabis. CBD has very low affinity for cannabinoid receptors CB1 and so is lacking euphoric side effects. CBD is under research for anticonvulsant properties, as a potential treatment for schizophrenia, as well as other conditions.
The differences between the cannabinoids
It is important to understand that when we read about CBD, hemp oil, marijuana, and THC, we’re really addressing about the cannabis plant and its derivatives. Because while there are major legal differences between hemp and marijuana, when it comes to science, hemp and marijuana are actually just two versions of the cannabis plant. This causes a lot of confusion, but it is important to know that when we say cannabis, it applies to both marijuana and hemp.
The benefits of cannabinoids
Cannabinoids have a full chain of health benefits, extending from THC’s pain-relieving properties to CBD’s anti-anxiety qualities. Other areas of research include cannabinoid therapy for cancer and cancer-treatment-related symptoms, PTSD, depression and anxiety, seizures, pain, and, addiction, especially opioids. Most of these fields of study are in the preliminary stages, although a CBD-derived pharmaceutical drug was just accepted by the FDA for seizure disorders, and THC-based drugs have been available for pain and a several other conditions for quite some time.
All of these benefits are responsible for better balance of the human mind, body and spirit.

Cannabis weakens the human ability for sustained attention. This might be inconvenient for taking an algebra test or operating heavy machinery, but it’s great for supporting in shifts of perspective and addressing experiences a more pluralistic character. Individuals thereby learn that there is no one single truth, but many perspectives. Experience looks to be symbolic and loaded with multiple meanings, multiple perspectives, and, multiple truths.
This last perspective of cannabinoids effects seems the driving cause the drug has been the medium for spiritual practice to promote balance within the system of the human body. These practices have been used by sects within Tibetan Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, Sufism, and a multitude of other religious groups for millennia.
As studies and research advances, we’ll better understand cannabis and the wellness advantages of specific cannabinoids. Unfortunately, though, the way prevailing laws are set up, it’s notably difficult to get support to study cannabis and even more complicated and time-intensive to get high-quality plant materials to use in research. Hopefully, as more patients consult their doctors about cannabis-based therapies and more states support recreational and medicinal marijuana, that will change.
